The picturesque city of Garland is home to a number of beautiful attractions including iconic landmarks, historical sites, verdant parks, thrilling water parks, wonderful art galleries and museums. Since the city is prone to a hot and humid climate, the best time to visit Garland is between the months of September and November, when the weather is pleasant and not unbearable. In 48 hours, visitors can indulge in several activities like shopping, water sports, sightseeing and exploring the vibrant nightlife of the city.

Garland Day 1 Tour!

Breakfast at 08:00 am

Start your day early in the morning with a delicious breakfast at Hubbard’s Cubbard (901 Main Street), which is known for its huge portions of traditional American food including omelets, waffles, banana nut breads and burgers. Judy’s Cafe (3443 W Campbell Road) is another great place for breakfast in Garland and is popular for its French toasts, cinnamon swirl breads and freshly made homemade biscuits.

Spring Creek Park Forest Reserve at 09:00 am

There is nothing like soaking up the early morning sun. A beautiful verdant area, Spring Creek Park is known for its lush foliage and tall trees along with a number of hiking trails. It is divided into three parts, each offering something new and unique to the visitors. While Spring Creek Greenbelt is home to a playground, fishing pond and picnic tables, the Spring Creek Park Reserve (one and two) is known for family picnics, walking trails and a diverse flora and fauna with 300 year old trees.

Granville Arts Center at 11: 00 am

Granville Arts Center is one of the most popular arts complexes in the city of Garland and consists of two huge auditoriums, an arts center and the Plaza Theater. Granville Arts Center plays an important role in encouraging and promoting the growth of cultural arts in the city of Garland.

First United Methodist Church at 02:00 pm

One of the most famous churches in Garland, First United Methodist Church was founded about 160 years ago. Since it was established, the church has steadily grown in the city to include a friendly and a diverse congregation.

Surf and Swim at 03:00 pm

If you are visiting Garland during summers, then you have to visit its most famous and thrilling water park. Located in Audubon Park, Surf and Swim’s main attractions including a relaxing wave pool, party deck for adults and children’s play area – Wally’s Cover. However, since the water park only allows 1000 guests per day, it is best to check with the park before visiting, especially on weekends. Moreover, do check if the park is open.

After spending some time at the water park, head towards the famous fishing and hunting supplies shops near Lake Ray Hubbard. If you are a fan of outdoor activities, then Bass Pro Shops is the ultimate shopping destination for you. From all types of fishing gears to hunting apparels, you will find everything over here. Moreover, they also give various demonstration classes and seminars of hunting and fishing to beginners. They even have a giant aquarium, an arcade and entertainment center for the visitors. There is also a famous restaurant - Islamorada Fish Company over here, known for its delicious and fresh seafood.

Lake Ray Hubbard at 07:00 pm

Spread over 22,000 acres, Lake Ray Hubbard is a beautiful fresh water lake located in Kaufman, Collin, Rockwall and Dallas counties of North America. The lake is popular among fishers and is known for its wide variety of fishes including white crappie, hybrid stripped bass, largemouth bass and blue catfish. Other outdoor activities offered at the lake include hiking, skiing, biking, boating and sailing.

Dinner at 08:00 pm

After spending some time at the lake, head towards Baker’s Ribs (488 I-30 Frontage Road) for a sumptuous dinner of authentic Texas style barbequed ribs. Do try their creamy coleslaw, herb dill potato salad, pork ribs, juicy brisket, pink pig, fried okra and special dipping sauces. If you are in a mood for some fresh seafood, head to Copper Kettle (1456 Belt Line Rd #147). They are known for their specially prepared catfish, which has been especially processed in Mississippi and then fried in Rice Bran Oil to make it light and delectable.

Explore Garland’s Nightlife at 10:00 pm

Scooters Bar & Grill (1401 NW Hwy # 121) is a friendly neighborhood bar known for its 30 widescreen televisions, five dart boards, ten pool tables and two fully stocked bars. It is a great place to relax and chill with friends. Another popular pub in Garland is Bleachers Sports Grill (3402 Arapaho Road), which is famous for its karaoke nights and luscious drinks.

Start your day with a full stomach by dining at one of the famous breakfast places of Garland. Generator Coffee House & Bakery (107 N 6th Street) is a great place to have breakfast in the city and is known for having the best coffee and fresh homemade sweets in Garland. Landmark Museum at Heritage Crossing at 10:00 am

Established in 1974, Garland’s Landmark Museum is one of the most iconic tourist spots in the city. It is constructed inside an old Santa Fe Depot, which played an important role in the foundation of Garland city. The museum is known for its large collection of farm tools, quilts, old newspapers and other unique artifacts, some of which date back to the 19th century. Do visit the historical houses and the antique railway inside the museum.

Beer lovers will find themselves at home at this place. Lakewood Brewery & Taproom is a famous brewery in the city of Garland and is known for its wide variety of delicious locally crafted beers. Visitors can either relax in their beer garden or visit the Taproom and get a guided tour of the brewery. Tours are offered only on Saturdays and Sundays and are often on a first come first basis.

Eddie’s Napoli’s Italian Bistro (4280 Lavon Dr #250) is another great place to eat, if you want to sample fresh and delicious Italian cuisine. For Indian food (especially one, made according to your spice level), head towards India Garden Restaurant (433, I-30 Frontage Road).

Garland’s Nightlife at 10:30 pm

Bar Louie (340 Coneflower Drive) at Firewheel Town Center is a great place to relax with friends. It is known for its delicious microbrews, martinis and blues music. Harbor Point Club & Grill (2121 Buckingham Road) is another brilliant pub for drinks, music and entertainment. Even though it is located in Richardson, but once you reach here, it’ll be worth the drive.
